A group of school children from Norwich High School for Girls will be marking Volunteers Week (1st-7th) by raising money for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital ‘Bumps and Babies’ maternity campaign.

Harriet, Evie, Mia, Clara and Freya, aged 10 and 11 from the Junior School will be selling cakes on Wednesday 7th June from 11.30am to 2pm at the hospital in order to raise money for the hospital campaign which supports the NNUH maternity department.

Nick Tiley-Nunn, Head of the Junior School at Norwich High School for Girls said: “At school we have challenged all of our girls to ‘Grow a Pound’ this half term as part of our ‘Believing in Butterflies’ initiative. This great idea is just one of many ways that our girls have used their pounds to raise money to support the excellent work of NNUH maternity department.”

Helen Dolding, Deputy Head at Norwich High School for Girls said:  “It is fantastic that our students have decided to use their pound to support the hospital charity. If you are in the hospital on 7th June, please do pop down for a delicious sweet treat for such a great cause!”

The decision to choose the hospital charity was following a talk given to students at the school from NNUH midwives about the ‘Bumps and Babies’ maternity campaign.

Louise Cook, NNUH Fundraising Manager: “I would like to say a big thank you to Harriet, Evie, Mia, Clara and Freya and to all of the girls at Norwich High Junior School for deciding to raise money for the hospital. We are so grateful for their support to our maternity department and their help to provide the extras which can make a difference to our patients.”

Sally Dyson, NNUH Voluntary Services Manager said: “Fundraising like this is just one way volunteers support the hospital. Volunteer’s Week runs from 1st – 7th June 2017 and is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. A special thanks to all of the girls at Norwich High Junior School for helping us mark this week in such a lovely way.”
