Family donation helps NNUH patients

Zoe Ryder, who lives in Dereham, has raised £2,387.50 for the oncology team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) in memory of her brother Lee Parker who received treatment from the hospital’s cancer centre. Together with her parents Christine and Herbert Parker, as well as the rest of the family and a whole host of Lee’s friends, she raised the money by holding an annual dance at Swanton Morley Village Hall over the last three years attended by over 200 people on each occasion.

Zoe Ryder said: “Many local people have come forward to support us and holding the dance was a great way to remember Lee who always liked to have fun. He absolutely loved to dance and was always the first on the dance floor and so full of life wherever we went.”

Louise Cook, Fundraising Manager at NNUH, said: “This is a generous donation to the hospital charity which will directly benefit our patients and buy those extra items which helps us to improve the service we offer.”

Dr Nicola Holtom, Palliative Care Consultant at NNUH, who treated Lee while he was a patient, said: “As cancer care becomes more complex, we can do more for patients and the demand for equipment increases. With this donation, we plan to buy extra syringe drivers which support the care of our patients.”
