NNUH to hold information event about support after discharge

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is inviting members of the public and NNUH staff to an information event about support available for patients after their discharge from hospital.

The ‘Community Voluntary & Charitable Resources Awareness Day’ will be running from 10am-3pm on Wednesday 11th April 2018 and will be taking place in the East Atrium on the main hospital site. It will be a chance for the public to hear from different organisations in Norfolk about what support is out there for patients and their families once they leave hospital.

There will be information stands from outside organisations and charities including Assistive Technology Service, Norfolk Libraries, British Red Cross, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Age UK Norwich, Careline Community Service, Our Day Out Sessions, Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust voluntary services, Norfolk County Council, The Cinnamon Trust, SSAFA Norfolk and Norwich Door to Door. There will also be information on offer about the hospital’s volunteer ‘settle-in service’.

Alongside the information stands, there will be talks for the public in the Benjamin Gooch Lecture Theatre, where members of the public will have the chance to hear more about the services provided by those mentioned above. These talks will start at 10.30am.

Sally Dyson, Voluntary Services Manager at NNUH said: “There is so much support in Norfolk for those patients being discharged after a hospital stay. This event will be a great opportunity to highlight this and signpost the public who may not know this help is out there.”

Frances Bolger, Acting Director of Nursing at NNUH said: “The information stands at the event will highlight key community voluntary and charitable resources offered outside the Trust, and it will be a great opportunity to show how important it is to work together when supporting patients after discharge.”
