First ever film event being held at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital

NNUH is holding a film day/night for the first time ever for patients and staff on 17th May in the Benjamin Gooch Lecture Theatre as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week.  The film ‘Bucket List’ features Jack Nicolson and Morgan Freeman whose characters meet with a desire to complete a list of things they want to see and do before they die.

Clemency Collins, Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, says:  “The aim of the event is to be entertaining and take a light-hearted view of the issues.  It can be very difficult for patients to talk about their wishes for the end of life and we hope this event will make it easier for families and friends to have those conversations.”

Frances Bolger, Acting Director of Nursing, says:  “We want to provide the very best care for our patients and it is important that we know about their wishes.  This enables us to develop an individual care plan for each patient at the end of life.”

The film event for inpatients, carers and friends starts at 9.30am and the staff event is being held at 6.30pm.  To attend, patients should speak to the ward sister or email:  Lily.aldis@nnuh.nhs.uk
