NNUH celebrates one year of Schwartz Rounds

This week, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) celebrated its one year anniversary of ‘Schwartz Rounds’ – a forum where all staff, clinical and non-clinical, come together to discuss the emotional and social aspects of working in healthcare.

The special anniversary session was a chance for the Trust to celebrate how beneficial Schwartz Rounds have been for staff over the past year. Over the last year, Schwartz Round topics have included “A time I felt proud”, “Caring from the heart” and “A day in the life on the Acute Medical Unit”.

Hilary Winch, Head of Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing and lead on Schwartz Rounds at NNUH said: “We’re delighted to be marking one year of Schwartz Rounds here at NNUH. Evidence shows that staff colleagues who attend these sessions feel more supported in their roles and have an opportunity to reflect on the emotional demands of their work. This enables them to continue to deliver high standards of care as well as having an increased insight and appreciation for each other’s roles. We are pleased to be able to offer this important forum for staff to support their wellbeing.”

Laura Ford, Clinical Stroke Research Nurse at NNUH said: “For me, Schwartz Rounds are an important resource available to enhance the emotional wellbeing of staff at NNUH. Listening and talking to colleagues from different areas within the Trust has provided me with a deeper insight and appreciation for their roles. Schwartz Rounds are a fantastic chance to highlight how hard we work at NNUH to give excellent quality care – ensuring our patients always come first. Congratulations to Hilary and her fabulous team on NNUH Schwartz Rounds 1st birthday!”
