NNUH shortlisted for prestigious apprenticeship award

The Apprenticeship Team

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is delighted to be shortlisted for a prestigious regional award for their work to promote apprenticeships at the Trust.

The National Apprenticeship Awards for the East of England recognise the achievements of extraordinary apprentices, the businesses that employ them, and the individuals that champion apprenticeships, and NNUH is delighted to be shortlisted in the ‘Macro Employer’ category.

The award winners will be announced at an event at Newmarket Racecourse on Wednesday 12th September 2018.

Annie Cook, Career Development Co-Ordinator at NNUH said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for this award. This news demonstrates our dedicated work to support those undergoing apprenticeships here at NNUH.”

Annie added: “Our Apprenticeship programme is very successful with 98% of new apprentices going on to employment, 92% stay within the Trust. Many apprentices have gone on to Higher Education to do Nursing, Midwifery, Biomedical Science, Audiology, Finance, Business, and Management & Leadership, and so apprenticeships are the start of exciting careers in the NHS.”

There are currently over 1200 employees who have either completed or are studying towards the apprenticeship programmes.

Mark Davies, Chief Executive at NNUH said: “Apprenticeships at NNUH are a fantastic opportunity for those looking to begin a career within the NHS. To be shortlisted for this award and recognised externally in such a way is fantastic news for the team, the Trust and for all those interested in undergoing an apprenticeship at NNUH. My thanks go to all those involved in the award shortlisting, and I wish the team all the best for the award ceremony next month.”
