NNUH announces new Chairman
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) has announced David White, former chief executive of Norfolk County Council, as its new chairman. His appointment was made by the Trust’s Council of Governors today.
David is currently chairman of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust – Ipswich and Colchester Hospitals, where he has worked since 2015. He joins NNUH in June.
David began his career as a social worker in London before becoming a Director of Social Services then moving to East Anglia as Chief Executive of Suffolk Health Authority in 1994. He went on to spend four years as Chief Executive of Thurrock Council before joining Norfolk County Council, where he held the role of Chief Executive from 2006 until his retirement in April 2013. David has lived in Norfolk with his family since 2010.
David said: “Joining the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals is an amazing opportunity and I am looking forward immensely to working with the teams and meeting staff and patients. NNUH is a teaching hospital on a journey to outstanding and I am very much looking forward to being part of that.”

I am delighted that David has been appointed to the Trust as he brings with him very relevant experience from his roles in hospitals, the wider health sector and significant local knowledge from both his role as chief executive of Norfolk County Council and living in Norfolk.”
