High praise for cancer care at NNUH
Cancer services staff at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been praised for their care following the publication of a national survey.
More than 1,000 patients completed questionnaires for the NHS England 2018 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey after receiving treatment at NNUH or Cromer Hospital.
When asked to rate the care they received, respondents gave an average score of 8.9 out of 10 (very good) for the Trust, which is above the national average.
The results also placed the Trust significantly higher than the national average for three questions:
- 95% said they were given the name of the Clinical Nurse Specialist who would support them through their treatment
- 91% said that NNUH staff gave information about support groups
- 75% said they were able to discuss their worries or fears with staff during their hospital visit

“We are one of the biggest cancer centres in the country and we continue to develop new services to improve care and to increase capacity to meet growing demand. I’m proud to say that the care provided by our teams continues to remain at a very high standard and this is demonstrated in the consistently high scores we receive from patients who take part in the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.”
