Professional Expertise: Mr Carlile was appointed a substantive Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultant at the Norfolk & Norwich in 2015. In addition he provides specialist Paediatric Orthopaedic expertise to Ipswich Hospital as part of the regional network.

Prior to his appointments across East Anglia, he trained internationally at children’s hospitals in Auckland & Sydney.

Mr Carlile has an interest in all aspects of Paediatric Orthopaedics, including hip surgery for DDH and Perthes disease, neuromuscular conditions including Cerebral Palsy and HSMN, in addition to traumatic injuries (broken bones) and children’s bone & joint infection.

Mr Carlile has a particular interest in complex foot and ankles problems, including club feet, sporting injuries and deformity correction, in addition to children’s elbow problems.

Mr Carlile is actively involved with teaching at the University of East Anglia and service development across Norwich and Ipswich.

Outside of work, Mr Carlile lives in rural Norfolk with his wife (a local GP) and two children.
