Six ways you can help NNUH during COVID-19

Stay at home to save lives

Our teams are working hard on the frontline of fighting COVID-19. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from our patients, visitors and supporters over the last few weeks.

However, the biggest single thing that the whole community can do to support the NHS across Norfolk and Waveney is by following government guidance and to stay at home. Please help to limit the spread of coronavirus by only travelling if it is essential for work or for getting groceries or medication.

Look out for vulnerable family, friends and neighbours

We are all socially distancing from our loved ones and many vulnerable patients are isolating themselves to shield themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic. Please look after vulnerable loved ones and neighbours to make sure they have enough of the provisions and medicines they need and to check in with them over the phone or by video calling.

Join Team NNUH

We are humbled that more than 400 medical students and retired NHS workers are already joining us in the fight against COVID-19. We have highly developed plans to deliver high quality intensive care to patients being implemented right now.

If you have previous experience of working as a Registered Nurse, Doctor or Allied Health Professional in any healthcare setting we’d love to hear from you as soon as possible. It could be that you have retired or decided to take time away from healthcare for personal reasons – either way if you’re ready to come back we can support you.

We have training facilities set up to refresh your essential clinical skills and temporary professional registers are being established to support your return to practice. The rules around pensions have also been relaxed for those who have retired from the NHS and are in receipt of an NHS pension.

Please email office.staffbank@nnuh.nhs.uk or recruitment@nnuh.nhs.uk.

Our latest vacancies also include jobs for housekeepers, healthcare assistants and healthcare scientists.

Become an NHS Volunteer responder

There are opportunities to help your community and vulnerable residents by becoming a Community Response volunteer to collect and deliver essential supplies to people who are self-isolating and Check-in and Chat volunteers provide short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a result of self-isolation.

COVID-19 Emergency Appeal

The N&N Hospitals Charity is committed to doing everything we can to help our amazing NHS staff working at NNUH, Cromer and District Hospital and the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital. With your support, we can provide emergency funds to help hospital staff cope with the challenges they’re facing, every day. We are particularly keen to get more tablet devices so that patients in the hospital can keep in contact with their friends and family through video calls.

Every donation – large or small – will make a difference.

We are extremely grateful for donations such as brand new electrical equipment, treats for staff and if you or your company may be able to help in some way to email fundraising@nnuh.nhs.uk to see if there are ways you can help.

Small gestures make a big difference

Our staff are working phenomenally hard to be ready for the expected peak in COVID-19 cases and are being supported by their colleagues and loved ones.

If you’d like to say thank you to individuals or teams working at NNUH who have gone the extra mile for patients, visitors or colleagues, you can nominate them for Trust PRIDE awards by visiting https://new.nnuh.nhs.uk/get-involved/pride-awards-form/
