Wendy Evans – Midwife
Wendy Evans – Midwife
‘The ethos here means we all look after each other’
Wendy has been with the hospital since 1978, starting her career in Sterile Services at the previous hospital site in Norwich City Centre. She quickly grew to love the hospital environment and trained to become a nurse, next working as a Staff Nurse on an Orthopaedic ward. Her youthful enthusiasm meant that she was keen to gain more qualifications, this time Midwifery, with a view to returning to nursing once this was complete. However, this was not to be, ‘once I saw a baby born, I was sold,’ she says and has worked as a midwife ever since that time, through the birth of her own children, eventually progressing to become a Band 7. Wendy says, ‘I’ve been really lucky to have the best job in the world; I’m privileged to be at the birth of a baby and that I never underestimate.’
