Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The department comprises six consultant plastic surgeons undertaking a wide range of general plastic surgery services e.g. hand trauma, lower limb trauma, skin malignancy, microsurgery, aesthetic breast surgery, scar revision, prominent ear correction as well as various sub-specialties.

Before Surgery

Before undergoing surgery patients are given advice sheets explaining the procedures they are about to undergo and what to expect after surgery (see left-hand menu “Useful Documents”). Please be aware that treatments may vary between hospitals.  When patients have read the information if they find that they are still undecided as to the details of the operation proposed, the risks involved and any alternatives available, they are welcome to ask further questions when they see one of the surgical team (nurse or doctor) who will endeavour to answer any queries.

After Surgery

After surgery, patients will be aware what to expect from the leaflets provided before surgery and will be encouraged to following any instructions specified in these leaflets.  Prior to going home, follow-up appointments will be made for patients to attend at our Outpatient Clinic  where their progress will be monitored.  They will also have the opportunity to receive appropriate aftercare e.g. physiotherapy, dressing changes.
