NNUH teams shortlisted for four HSJ Patient Safety Awards

Congratulations to our teams who have been shortlisted for four HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025.

Our Virtual Ward and Maternity teams are in the running for two awards for their work to improve care for severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.

The Hyperemesis Pathway has been recognised in the categories of Virtual or Remote Care Initiative and Maternity and Midwifery Initiative.

Falls Prevention and Management Lead Anna Skipper has been shortlisted for the Patient Involvement in Safety Award after working with Age UK Norwich on a joint project. Their work with ‘Alice’s Story’, a video project highlighting the healthcare missed opportunities in falls prevention, has been widely shared online and was presented at Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System events and other forums.

The final shortlisting for the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025 is for our vascular team who have been nominated in the Quality Improvement Initiative of the Year for developing an MDT post-discharge complex wound review clinic on Docking ward.

The announcement comes after a rigorous judging process by a panel of esteemed healthcare leaders and patient safety experts. Organised by the Health Service Journal (HSJ), the Patient Safety Awards celebrate the teams and individuals going above and beyond to protect patients from harm, reduce risks, and embed a culture of safety across the UK healthcare sector.

Tracey Bleakley, Interim Executive Managing Director, said: “Congratulations to our teams for being nominated in these prestigious awards. It is wonderful to see their forward-thinking and collaborative work has been recognised nationally and I wish everyone all the best with their presentations during judging day next month.”

The Patient Safety awards will take place on Monday 15 September at Manchester Central.
