This page explains how the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust uses any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

Data Protection Act

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We will only use your information for the purposes of providing your healthcare and for training and monitoring purposes. In the course of your care we may need to share your information within the NHS and with partner organisations. We use leading technologies to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it.

Access to health records

All patients have the right to see their own medical records and can write to the Health Records Manager, Health Records Library, Norwich Community Hospital Site, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich, NR2 3TU, or phone 01603 288725 or 288858 to request their details. There are charges to get copies of your health records including an administration fee, and any photocopying and postage costs up to a maximum of £50.

Freedom of Information Act

The purpose of the Act is to promote greater openness by public authorities. Under Section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a legal duty to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme for the publication of Trust information. This Publication Scheme is a complete guide to the information routinely published by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is a description of the information about the Trust that is made publicly available. The Trust reviews the Scheme at regular intervals and monitors how it is operating.

You can send us a complaint, compliment or a suggestion in several ways  as explained by following the link.

If you send an e-mail or call the Trust asking for information, we may need to contact other government departments to find that information. If your question is technical, we may need to pass it to our IT Department. We do not pass on any of your personal information when dealing with your enquiry, unless you have given us permission to do so.

Cookies and Site Usage Information

• Advertising – Our site provides carefully controlled adverts that may be of interest to you. To ensure that you don’t keep seeing the same advertisement cookies are used to store which advertisements have been displayed. No personal information is stored in these cookies.
• YouTube – From time to time we may incorporate embedded YouTube videos on our site. When we do this we use the privacy-enhanced mode for the YouTube player. This will use cookies when you click play on the video but it will not store any personally identifiable information.

Log files Log files allow us to record visitors’ use of the site. They enable us to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information or information about which other sites you have visited.

What happens when I link to another site?

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust site contains links to other websites, both those of government departments and of other organisations.
