Teams and individuals from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were recognised at an awards ceremony on 27 November.
The annual Staff Awards were held at Carrow Road and celebrated the work of our outstanding colleagues and volunteers.
More than 600 nominations were received from patients and colleagues who were inspired by the dedication, professionalism and excellent care provided for patients and the support given to one another.
Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group CEO Lesley Dwyer said: “Thank you to every single person and team who was nominated for going above and beyond to make things better for our patients and colleagues. Huge congratulations to the winners for their outstanding achievements, we hope you had a great evening.
“In addition, I would like to thank the N&N’s Hospital Charity and Serco for their support. We couldn’t put on such a fantastic event without them.”
Lauren Harrison, Assistant Practitioner, won the Individual Patient Choice Award.
The patient who nominated her said: “Lauren leads by example and consistently brings warmth, intelligence and heart to everything she does. The difference she has made in my life is not just clinical it is profoundly human. Lauren is a powerful reminder of the humanity and heart that should be at the core of every patient experience. She exemplifies what healthcare should be – compassionate, personalised and deeply human and I am forever grateful to her.”
The Patient Choice Team Award was won by the Norwich Hand Unit.
The nomination said: “I spoke to at least six people and every one of them was kind and gentle, smiling and some even bringing some humour to the situation to put me at ease. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the whole team for providing such a first-class service. I would not hesitate to recommend you.”
Four members of staff received a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising their outstanding contribution to the Trust during a long NHS career:
- Judy Butcher, Patient Safety Incident Investigator
- Caroline Ferrari, Sister, Rheumatology Day Unit
- Melanie Goodrum, Operations Manager, Pharmacy Quality Assurance
- Dr Trevor Wistow, Consultant Cardiologist
The Staff Awards were supported by the N&N Hospitals Charity, who sponsored two of the awards, Trainee of the Year and Team of the Year and Serco.
