NNUH shortlisted for national healthcare efficiency award

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) has been praised for its “high standards of operational excellence” after being shortlisted for a national award.

The hospital is in the running to win the healthcare efficiency award at the CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards 2018.

The Trust is one of five shortlisted in a category that recognises organisations that have outperformed peers on a range of 14 efficiency indicators that support care quality and patient outcomes.

CHKS, part of Capita Healthcare Decisions, analysed hospital data over the last year including rate of emergency readmissions, average length of stay, delayed discharge and weekend discharge rate.

Mark Davies, NNUH Chief Executive, said: “I’m delighted that we have been shortlisted for this national award, which is testament to the hard work of our staff across the hospital. We are proud to be one of the most efficient teaching hospitals in the country and we continue to innovate and develop to improve patient care.”

The Top Hospitals awards celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are awarded to healthcare organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards will be held in London on the 15th May and hosted by NHS Confederation chief executive, Niall Dickson with guest speaker Dr Ed Coates.
