Stay at home if you have Covid-19 symptoms
If you or someone in your household has coronavirus symptoms, stay at home and book a test.
Please do not visit an Emergency Department, walk-in centre, Minor Injuries Unit, pharmacy or GP surgery to get a Covid-19 test.
You will not be tested if you turn up at the Emergency Department for a coronavirus test and your actions risk infecting and spreading the virus to patients, staff and visitors if you do so.
The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
Only book a test if you have one of the three symptoms.
For most people, Covid-19 will be a mild illness. If you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home, or your condition gets worse, then use the NHS 111 online Covid-19 service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.
