Advance Care Planning Conference – 7 May

The national Advance Care Planning Conference returns to Norwich Research Park on Wednesday 7 May.

This annual day of action and awareness will highlight the importance of Advance Care Planning and encourage everyone to document, share and discuss their wishes.

The conference will take place at the John Innes Conference Centre, with live streaming to centres across the UK and globally.

Last year’s event was a sell-out, and live streams have been arranged at Tapping House in west Norfolk, the James Paget University Hospital, the Priscilla Bacon Lodge and here at NNUH.

The first speakers have been confirmed. Dr Christian R Ntizimira’s talk will focus on “What Matters Most to You”. Christian is the Medical Director at Kibagabaga Hospital in Kigali City, Rwanda. Other speakers include Evie King, Celia Kitzinger, Clare Fuller and Vicki Caldwell.

Dani Ayre, Palliative Care Matron, said: “The vast majority of adults in the UK have not created and shared a document outlining wishes for their future care. The aim of the awareness day is to help change this. Making plans in advance can be of great benefit whilst someone is healthy, when they are unwell, for care professionals and for the person’s friends and family members in the future.”

Tickets are free to attend in person or accessing the live stream.
