Following a competitive recruitment process which included a stakeholder panel, Rachael Cocker has been appointed as Chief Nurse.

CEO Lesley Dwyer said: “I am delighted to announce that Rachael Cocker has been appointed as Chief Nurse. She will be known to many colleagues across the region, as she is one of our own outstanding nurses with excellent skills and respected for her experience and leadership.

“Rachael brings a real strength of both organisational knowledge and an absolute patient focus to the everything she does. She sets the benchmark for how someone in an interim leadership role behaves and delivers.  I know that this appointment will be welcomed by everyone here at the NNUH – I know that nursing, midwifery and AHP teams continue to be in very good hands!”

Rachael added: “I am a nurse and a midwife and intend to continue to practice clinically as this is important to me personally. I feel honoured that in the position of Chief Nurse I will be able to offer a different level of support to nursing, midwifery, AHP and admin teams of all grades to be their best and work as teams with our medical colleagues to provide care to our patients and their families that we would want those important to us to receive.”

Rachael commenced her career in 1991 at Broadland School of Nursing to become a Registered General Nurse and later became a Registered Midwife on completion of training with the University of East Anglia. Since then, Rachael has worked at the NNUH gaining experience across all areas of healthcare that has led to several progressive leadership roles within the organisation. Through these roles, Rachael has worked with a wide range of partners and stakeholders with a commitment to uphold high standards of patient care by using and continually reviewing evidence-based best practice to support both patients and staff that deliver that care.
