Praise for NNUH staff in annual CQC patient survey
Our staff have been praised for their care and keeping patients involved in conversations around their treatment in the latest Adult Inpatient Survey.
Almost 600 patients took part in the 2020 survey, which is coordinated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This is the first time the survey has been held during the Covid-19 pandemic, with patients rating highly the overall experience at NNUH.
Nine out of ten respondents they were treated with respect and dignity while in the hospital, had confidence and trust in clinical staff and were included in conversations about their care.
The survey came at a time of Covid-19 visiting restrictions. However, eight out of ten respondents said they were able to keep in touch with family and friends during their stay.
The results show that patients who took part in the survey rated their overall experience at NNUH 8.3 out of 10.
Sarah Higson, Associate Director for Patient Engagement and Experience, said: “We monitor our patient experience on an ongoing basis via Friends and Family surveys, PALS, complaints and compliments and have several work streams for improvement already underway.
We are particularly pleased that we have been able to reintroduce volunteer support to our wards so we are able to once again provide much more support at mealtimes, personal and emotional support, help and encouragement to get up and moving as soon as possible as well as enhancing communication through reintroduction of safely managed visiting and ‘keeping in touch’ solutions such as Skyping via ward ipads.”
