Professional profile: I have been a consultant in Norwich for nearly 20 years, having trained mainly in London, Norwich and Australia and enjoy a busy clinical practice of general orthopaedics and trauma surgery. The greater part of this practice consists of major joint replacement surgery and I have carried out over 4,000 hip and knee replacements. I am particularly stimulated by complex revision problems at both the hip and the knee.
I have been the department’s Clinical Director, examined for the Intercollegiate Speciality Board in Orthopaedics for the Royal College of Surgeons and reviewed for a number of journals including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Hip International. I carry out Invited Reviews for the Royal College of Surgeons and Fitness to Practice Assessments on behalf of the General Medical Council.
After 8 years as the Honorary Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the British Hip Society, I am now President of The British Hip Society.
Personal Profile: I am married to Jo who is currently a non-practicing GP but practicing mother to James who is studying Dentistry in Dundee, George and Archie. We enjoy the outdoors, especially flying (I have a PPL), sailing, cycling and ball games. I am fascinated by old buildings.
