Professional profile: I qualified at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London 1997, and was appointed as a Specialist Registrar in the Eastern Deanery in 2002. I completed clinical training in gastroenterology and general medicine in Hinchingbrooke, Ipswich, Addenbrooke’s, Norwich and Basildon hospitals. I have been a consultant gastroenterologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital since February 2010.

I developed my special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during a successful 3 year research period in Cambridge in 2005 undertaking molecular research into the genetic basis of IBD both independently and in collaboration with other research groups within the UK. I have also been an investigator in many clinical trials of novel therapies in IBD.

I was awarded an MD by University of London 2009
