Special Clinical Interests:

• Management of patients with chronic liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases
• Local and international experience on viral hepatitis and prevention of primary liver cancer
• I am a competent trainer, with JAG certification in GI endoscopy, performing therapeutic procedures endoscopically as well
• General gastrointestinal conditions
• Use of Information Technology to support management of patients

Research Interests: I obtained a PhD in 2014 based on my research work on epidemiology and metabonomics of hepatocellular carcinoma as well as various aspects of HIV/hepatitis co-infections. I have over 30 peer-reviewed publications in circulation.

I have participated in collaborative research in developing countries, being a member of the PROLIFICA (Prevention of Liver Fibrosis and Carcinoma in Africa), which work secured a 3 million Euros grant from the European Union FP7 grant.

I will be supporting research and clinical teaching at the University of East Anglia.

Professional Profile: I obtained MBBS in 1997 at the University of Jos. Worked as a Consultant in Gastroenterology after postgraduate clinical training from 2005 in Nigeria (FWACP – equivalent of the MRCP), Grenada and currently in the United Kingdom. Undertook 4 years of research as a Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London during 2010 – 2014. Prior to joining the Trust, I have worked in the Liverpool area during 2014 to 2020.

Personal Profile: Married with 3 children, supports family and develop android apps (currently, 17 in google playstore), among which are Liver Health App, NuHealth, HepB Combo Tool and Abdominal Pain Checker. I participate actively on social media education in aspects of healthy lifestyles. I thrive in an environment of collaboration and thus like making the work-place friendly.
