Professional profile: Mr Smith trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Cambridge and Norwich, and won the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists Gold Medal for best performance in the membership examination. He was then awarded a PhD in Fetal Stress by Imperial College London whilst conducting a 3 year research programme at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital. Mr Smith also completed a 2 year subspecialty training programme in Fetal & Maternal Medicine in Bristol before being appointed in Norwich. Mr Smith’s work focuses on management of complex pregnancy, especially diagnosis and management of fetal problems using ultrasound, and management of multiple pregnancy. He believes in working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best level of care for patients at what may be a difficult time. He also has responsibility for general obstetric patients, and is actively involved in the labour ward. He is a committed teacher and is involved in teaching Medical Students, Junior Doctors, Midwives, and General Practitioners.
