NNUH celebrates Norwich Pride

We are proud to be the first NHS Trust in the region to create a Progress Pride Pathway as a visual symbol of inclusion.

The installation is in advance of our Norwich Pride celebrations on 30 July and will be a long-term addition to the NNUH site.

Our LGBT+ Staff Network have been instrumental in this project who are championing the cause of equality at NNUH.

Dan Campbell and Alex Jackson, Co-Chairs of the network, said: “We feel this path to be a ringing endorsement of the cooperative spirit prevailing at NNUH. It will be a colourful testament to what LGBT+ staff can achieve, as well as a strong visual display of support for LGBT+ staff and patients at this Trust. May it long serve as a reminder that this is ‘Our Hospital For All.’ We are both incredibly proud to Co-Chair a network of such noble ambitions and dedicated members. For Norwich Pride 2021, Pride will definitely be felt at NNUH.”

On Friday 30 July, there will be a Pride Walk at 1.30pm in the hospital grounds, which will start outside the Aylsham Suite. We want to attempt to form a “moving rainbow” by trying to wear something colourful for the walk and bringing along any Pride related flags or banners to wave in support.

Joe Ballard, chair of Norwich Pride, said: “We are so proud of the NNUH’s commitment to being a hospital for all and in doing so ensuring that LGBT+ patients, carers, staff and volunteers can feel safe and proud to be themselves. The rainbow walkway is beautiful. The work that the LGBT+ staff network have done to inform and inspire the Trust has been exceptional and that’s why we featured them in our Pride Guide.”
