Overview

Immobilisation of the lower limb in plaster is recognised as a risk factor for VTE. NICE CG92 guidance January 2010 for hospital in patients states “consider offering pharmacological VTE prophylaxis for patients with lower limb plaster casts after evaluating the risks and benefits based on clinical discussion with the patient.
