Inspiring the next generation of surgical ward recruits
A virtual tour of the NNUH’s emergency and urgent care surgical units has been launched to inspire young people into NHS careers.
The Surgical Ambulatory Urgent Care, Theatres and Emergency Assessment Unit (EAUS) teams have created a new video explaining their roles and answering questions from local schoolchildren.
Sister Rebecca Fish said: “We worked with students from Wymondham High School who sent us the questions they’d like to ask staff, from Consultants to Healthcare Assistants. The questions were great, not only covering what we do but also things as varied as training, technology, why we chose the profession and what we find most rewarding.”
“We answered as many questions as we could in the video, which we’ve sent to local schools and colleges to illustrate some of the wide range of healthcare professions they can choose to follow. The video walks them through the journey patients would take, giving them a virtual experience of the hospital and showing what a great team we are!”
“It’s great for patients too to get an insight into our work.”
