Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Research at NNUH
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is part of the Norfolk MND Care and Research Network and has a dedicated MND Research Nurse, funded by the MND Association.
This funding aims to accelerate the development of new treatments and improve care by increasing patient access to clinical trials. A key goal is to build a sustainable network of MND research nurses across the UK, embedding research within multidisciplinary care and making it easier for people living with MND to take part in studies.
Our research nurse, Sophie, can see patients in several locations:
- During clinic appointments at the NNUH
- At the Quadram Institute, a fully accessible research facility on the NNUH site
- At Priscilla Bacon Lodge Palliative Care Centre
- At Cromer Hospital
Sophie is also planning to offer home visits and appointments in King’s Lynn and at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), helping to make research participation available to more people across the region.
We are currently involved in a range of studies, including drug treatment trials, qualitative research, and respiratory studies.
An up-to-date list of trials open to recruitment can be found on the UK MND Clinical Studies Group – Norwich website.
