Professional profile: Dr Garg graduated in Medicine with Honours in 2003 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007. After completing his British Heart Foundation-funded PhD at Leeds (2017), he was awarded the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Lectureship at the University of Sheffield. In 2020, he was awarded Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Career Development Fellowship and is leading the PREFER-CMR study at Norwich.
Research Interests
Dr Garg’s research interests focus on the development and translation of novel imaging methods in cardiovascular medicine to improve patient care, especially using heart MRI. He is particularly interested in the use of heart MRI to study cardiovascular flow, haemodynamics and cardiac remodelling. His research has led to the development of new methods for diagnosing and monitoring heart disease and has also helped to improve our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of heart disease. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers in leading scientific journals and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
Teaching:
