Dispensary

The dispensary is the central hub of the pharmacy department. We dispense approximately 45,000 items per month. This includes medications for,

• Inpatients, both in the hospital and for those at various community units.
• Discharge medications for patients to take home with them.
• Day case clinics.
• Outpatients

We offer a counselling service for medications prescribed in outpatient clinics and a delivery service for those who attend teleclinics.

Every prescription is clinically screened for safety and appropriateness by a pharmacist before being dispensed by the team. Items dispensed are then accuracy checked by either a pharmacy technician or a pharmacist.
