Dr Shane Gordon: Executive Managing Director (appointed 2025)

Shane Gordon is Executive Managing Director of NNUH and a member of the Group Board of Directors. He was previously Interim EMD of the James Paget University Hospitals Trust for six months. Before that he was Director of Strategy, Research & Innovation at East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) and has 18 years of senior NHS management experience in transformational change, strategic and local commissioning and acute hospital leadership. He’s also Vice Chairman of the East of England Clinical Senate and a lapsed member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons.

 

 

Dr Bernard Brett: Medical Director (appointed 2024)

Bernard Brett was appointed as Medical Director in October 2024 after nearly a year as interim Medical Director.

Bernard is a gastroenterologist and an experienced Medical Manager, currently holding the position of Chair of the East of England Clinical Senate and previously having held a variety of posts including Medical Director at the James Paget University Hospital, Responsible Officer, Appraisal Lead and Divisional Director.

 

 

Lucy Weavers: Interim Chief Nurse (appointed January 2026)

Lucy trained at NNUH in the 1990s and brings more than 30 years of nursing experience across a wide range of specialties, including paediatrics, NICU, Emergency and Urgent Care, Medicine and Surgery in a career that has taken her to London and Australia.

Over the past decade, she has held senior leadership positions at NNUH, including Deputy Chief Nurse, Divisional Nurse Director for Women’s and Children’s and for Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care.

 

 

Chris Cobb: Chief Operating Officer (appointed 2019)

Chris Cobb was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2019 after three years as Divisional Director of Operations for Medicine.

Chris joined us in 2005 as an Admin Manager and has developed his career here in a number of management roles, after serving for 20 years in the Royal Air Force.

 

 

Lorraine Hooper: Finance Director (appointed 2025)

Lorraine was previously Finance Director at the Queen Elizabeth King’s Lynn and, before that, Chief Financial Officer at the University Hospital of Leicester.

She has eight years’ experience in finance director roles over her 20-year career, during which she’s worked a variety of healthcare organisations, including acute, mental health and community settings.

Mike Shemko: Head of Data Science (interim)

 

 

Linda Martin: Head of Estates and Facilities (interim)

Linda has spent more than 40 years working in estates and facilities, 17 in the NHS as an interim director at both large and small Trusts, including Rotherham, EPUT, Bolton, the Royal Free, UCLH and Great Ormond Street.
