About us

CCU has eight single rooms for patients with Heart Attack or Myocardial Infarction, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure and other cardiac problems. Patients may be admitted straight from home, other hospitals or via other departments in the hospital. They will usually only stay for a short while before being moved to Kilverstone Ward.  Patients from other hospitals areas who have had primary angioplasty following heart attack may be transferred back to their local hospital after 24 hours.

The Angiography department is next door to the CCU.

CCU is managed by Matron Helen Huson.

Visit NHS Choices  for more information about heart attacks and heart failure.

Special instructions

Patients on CCU are usually in need of rest and quiet so we ask that visiting is limited to close family and important friends only. Although we have an open visiting policy and no visiting hours, we request that visitors avoid meal times to minimise interruptions.
