Diabetes Patient Supporters
The Patient Advisers are a group of patients who have Diabetes themselves. They have been trained to talk to fellow patients about living and coping with diabetes. The service is for anyone who has Diabetes within the central Norfolk area. It is available for people who wish to talk about their condition or who have concerns about living or coping with Diabetes – whether they are newly diagnosed, or are in progression through their condition. Family members are also welcome to access the service for support. Medical advice cannot be given.
All members of the group are very enthusiastic about the project and feel it plays an important part in helping people with Diabetes to come to terms with their condition, therefore empowering them to take a positive and active approach to their future in living with Diabetes.
The Answer-phone is accessed Monday – Friday to take requests for an adviser to call for non medical / non urgent support.
