Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team at NNUH provides specialist care for people living with IBD. This care includes:

  • in-patient hospital care,
  • specialist outpatient clinics,
  • endoscopy services,
  • multi-disciplinary team meetings,
  • advanced therapy treatments.

The IBD service is a multiprofessional team and is care is delivered by:

  • Gastroenterologists who have specialised in IBD
  • IBD Specialist Nurses
  • Specialist Pharmacist
  • Colorectal surgeons who have specific interest in IBD
  • Clinical research staff
  • Secretarial support.

The IBD service at NNUH is primarily based at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, some outpatient clinics are based at Cromer hospital.

Some IBD patients may require advanced medical treatments. Some of these medications are given through a canula into a vein. These treatments are usually provided in one of the day-case infusion units at NNUH.
