What we offer
The maternal medicine clinic provides care to people pre-pregnancy, during the antenatal and the postnatal period when they have existing medical problems or those that may occur in pregnancy or the postnatal period.
Within the Maternal medicine team here at NNUH our team consists of a Lead maternal medicine Obstetrician, Obstetric physician, Maternal medicine Consultants and maternal medicine specialist midwives. Amongst the team we may connect with many other services including Anaesthetics, Fetal medicine, Perinatal mental health services and specialist nurses and consultants of other medical specialities.
How will I be referred?
When you book for your pregnancy with the Midwife, if you have a pre-existing medical condition, you will be referred to be seen in the Maternal Medicine clinic. The type of clinic may depend upon you medica condition and complexity of disease.
For pre-pregnancy counselling, you can be referred by your GP, Specialists nurse or clinician for your medical condition.
Who will I see?
You may see one of the Specialist Maternal Medicine Midwives, Doctors or Consultants who will be involved in planning you care throughout your pregnancy.
When does the clinic run?
Our usual clinics days are as follows:
First and Third Mondays of the month: Pre-pregnancy counselling 14:15-17:00
Second and Fourth Mondays of the month 14:15-17:00
Every Thursday 14:15-17:00
Location
Our clinics are held at antenatal clinic, which can be found in West Outpatients on Level 3.
Please note that Pre-pregnancy counselling clinic is held in General medical outpatients in East Outpatients.
