Immunology

The Immunology laboratory focuses on the role of antibodies in combating disease and enhancing the body’s own immune defences, using a variety of techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence.

The section provides valuable diagnostic and disease-monitoring information for numerous autoimmune conditions through ELISA-based and indirect immunofluorescence assays. It also performs allergy testing, covering over 300 potential allergens. Flow cytometry is used to aid assessment and monitoring of Primary and secondary immunodeficiency and to assess Peripheral Blood Stem Cells prior to harvesting.

The Immunology laboratory is accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to BS EN ISO 15189:2022 standards. Immunology accreditation no. 10295.
