Immunology

Immunology, where different antibodies play a particular role in combating disease or raising the bodies own antibodies for defence, use various methods such as ELISA, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence techniques.

The Immunology section provides valuable diagnostic and disease monitoring information on many autoimmune conditions using ELISA-based and indirect immunofluorescence assays. The section also performs allergy testing covering over 300 potential allergens. Flow Cytometry is used to monitor CD4 counts in patients with HIV and an array of immunophenotyping panels are available to aid in the classification of leukaemia’s and lymphomas.
