Patient and Public Involvement
We constantly strive to become an outstanding organisation with an exceptional patient and carer experience where people feel listened to, action is taken and we work in partnership with patients and carers, especially those who are seldom heard, to continuously improve.
One of our key ambitions is that working in partnership with patients becomes the norm, there is a strong Patient Voice including those who are seldom heard and that services and pathways are co-designed with patients, staff and other stakeholders.
Carers Forum
Listening to carers is important to us and we want to ensure that carers are involved in the planning, design and evaluation of our services at the hospital – which is why we’ve set up our Carers’ Forum. Find out more about the Carers Forum.
Patient Information Forum
Our Patient Information forum is a group of patient representatives, healthcare and other professionals who meet once a month. The Forum review patient information leaflets to ensure that national accessible standards are met and that the information is clear and understandable.
We welcome new members so feel free to email forum@nnuh.nhs.uk.
Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP)
A Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) is an NHS working group, a mix of individuals who use or provide maternity services. The MVP takes forward issues raised by maternity services users (mostly, parents & parents-to-be), by looking at aspects of the service in detail and making recommendations for improvements. There are several ways to get involved with the MVP, get in touch to share your personal experiences, raise an issue or to become a service user representative. Find out more.
Become a Member or a Governor
More than 16,000 people have already become members of our Foundation Trust. Membership will give you the chance to find out more about your health, get involved with your local hospitals and influence how we provide services in the future.
Members can choose how much they wish to get involved. You can simply receive our hospital magazine, or if you would like to be more involved, you can attend talks and events, take part in surveys, join our Patient Panel or stand for election as a Governor. Find out more about becoming a member.
Groups and Committees
We work with over 60 groups with patient and public representation managed by specialties who meet throughout the year to discuss suggestions for improvements. We also work closely with several voluntary organisations such as Keeping Abreast and the Norfolk Liver Group who also meet to raise any issues and feed these back to us.
Healthwatch
Healthwatch is the independent consumer champion created to gather and represent the views of the public. Healthwatch aims to make sure that the views of the public and people who use services are taken into account.
Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC)
Overview and Scrutiny Committees are held by local councils with social services responsibilities (in our case Norfolk County Council) and they have the power to scrutinise health services. This contributes to their wider role in health improvement and reducing health inequalities for their areas.
