Non-malignant Haematology Service
The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital also offers a paediatric non-malignant haematology service for a wide variety of blood disorders. This service is delivered by Consultant Paediatrician Dr Jo Ponnampalam and local Haematology Consultant Dr Hamish Lyall/Dr Suzanne Docherty. Dr Adeeb Ahmed, Consultant Paediatrician, supports this clinic when Dr Jo Ponnampalam is on leave. The service is also supported by a paediatric haematologist from Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
A monthly clinic is held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Children with a variety of blood disorders are seen and managed with the input from the paediatric haematology team at Addenbrookes where necessary.
Children with haemoglobinopathies (e.g. Sickle Cell Disease) are managed at NNUHFT in conjunction with the North Middlesex Haemoglobinopathy Network service. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Ultrasounds are performed in Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge by the North Middlesex outreach team, as part of the network’s role in supporting a regional TCD clinic.
