Who We Are and What We Do
Our services for children and young people are largely provided within the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Our overriding ethos is to put children and their needs first.
The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital is a hospital within a hospital for children and young people. We have a consultant team of acute general paediatricians, neonatal paediatricians, paediatric surgeons and community paediatricians who contribute to the services here and are supported by an extensive team of specialist nurses and other professionals including physiotherapy, dietetics, speech and language therapy, play specialists and clinical psychology.
We also provide an acute emergency service for medical and surgical problems in children from birth, including neonatal intensive care, to 16 years and in some cases beyond. Outpatient services are available for General Paediatric problems as well as specialist clinics in Children’s Respiratory disease including Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis, Neurological disease and Epilepsy, Children’s Rheumatology, Children’s Cancers, Children’s Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrinology and the follow-up of patients requiring newborn intensive care.
We provide specialist surgical and urology clinics or the local population and via outreach clinics to the wider population of Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn, and Ipswich. We work closely with colleagues in the hospital providing care for children needing orthopaedic surgery, dermatology, plastic surgery, ear nose and throat surgery and ophthalmology care. We have visiting consultants in the specialised fields of paediatric cardiology, neurology, oncology, endocrinology and clinical genetics.
