The Oncology Care Team
The Oncology Department has a dedicated multi-disciplinary team who will be caring for you during your treatment.
Service Director of Oncology – Dr Rob Wade
- Head and Neck, Lung, Brain and Upper Gastric cancers – Dr Tom Roques, Dr Pinelopi Gkogkou (Lung and Brain) Dr Dinos Geropantas (Head and Neck), Dr Zacharias Tasigiannopoulos (Lung) and Dr Daniel Holyoake
- Breast, Lymphoma, Sarcoma and Melanoma cancers – Dr Adrian Harnett, Dr Jenny Nobes (Melanoma), Dr Dinos Geropantas (Breast)
- Gynaecological, Colorectal and Urological cancers – Dr Robert Wade, Dr Debashis Biswas, Dr Gaurav Kapur, Dr Jenny Nobes and Dr Helen Swannie.
- Breast, ovary and colorectal cancers – Dr Daniel Epurescu
- Breast and germ cell cancers – Dr Susanna Alexander
- Melanoma – Dr Gill Gray
Acute Oncology Service (AOS)
- Emergency Oncology services – Dr Gill Gray
Palliative Care Consultants
- All cancer disease sites – Dr Nicola Holtom, Dr Phil Wilkins, Dr Caroline Barry, Dr May Wung and Dr Fergus Maher.
Specialist Registrars – The oncology department also has two specialist registrars each who are in the department working alongside the oncologists as part of a training programme from Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
Junior Doctors – Mulbarton Ward has junior doctors who have their placements in oncology for 6 months at a time.
Medical Students – The oncology department supports the University of East Anglia’s medical students. The students observe treatments and clinics in the department.
Lead Cancer Nurse – Claire Devlin is the Lead Cancer Nurse and is responsible for managing all the nursing services for oncology and haematology inpatients, outpatients, chemotherapy outpatients and clinical nurse specialist services for haematology, oncology, AOS and palliative care.
Weybourne Day Unit – Sister Harriet Andrews manages the team of nurses in the chemotherapy outpatient unit.
Outpatients Department – Sister Harriet Andrews manages the team of oncology and haematology outpatient nurses in the Colney Centre.
Mulbarton Ward – Sister Kirsty Lewis manages the three nursing teams on Mulbarton ward.
Oncology Nurse Specialists – Sarah Thirkettle, Graham Dilks, Lisa Pedro, Philippa Penny, Tracey Gibbs, Beverley Knights, Charlotte Lo, Hannah Hendry, Siobhan Falco and Amy Gonzales act as key-workers who provide specialist support and advice to patients with cancers who are undergoing treatments. is responsible for co-ordinating the Acute Oncology Service.
Palliative Care Nurse Specialists – Anna Farrar, Julie Noble, Vicky Holman, Liz Rushbrook, Sarah Plumridge, Matt Ludford, Clem Collins, Briony Lowe, Amanda Vincent and Lorna Shergold are available for providing psychological support and symptom control advice to the patient, family and carers.
Head of Radiotherapy –Mark Gilham is responsible for managing the team of dedicated oncology therapy radiographers within the Colney Centre.
Pre-treatment radiographers-plan the radiotherapy treatment in conjunction with the clinical oncologist.
Treatment radiographers- responsible for the accurate delivery of the radiotherapy treatment to the patient on a daily basis.
Information and Support Radiographers – provides information about radiotherapy, support and a review clinic for patients undergoing radiotherapy.
Radiotherapy Physics – Alison Vinall is responsible for managing a team of physicists who ensure the safety and quality of radiotherapy treatments given to patients.
Administration and Clerical Team
Administration Manager – Leanne Durrant is responsible for managing the oncology and haematology secretarial teams, the Colney Centre receptionists, the chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment scheduling teams and patient pathway co-ordinators. Leanne is supported by Claudia Hackett, Assistant Administration Manager.
