Fluoroscopy
The department uses fluoroscopic x-ray examinations to look dynamically at the body in health and disease.
Examinations performed include assessments of swallowing (sometimes performed in concert with Speech Therapy colleagues), salivary gland problems, small bowel abnormalities, bladder abnormalities and defecatory function.
Fluoroscopy is also used to evaluate potential gut problems in babies and children. The Milkshake Leaflet or Milkshake Booklet can be used to prepare your child for their fluoroscopic examinations.
We also perform specialised examinations of the joints – arthrography– often in combination with CT or MRI scanning.
