Pre-operative Assessment

Our pre-operative assessment service assesses the general health of patients who have been referred for surgery to ensure they are as fit as they can be for their procedure.

Following an outpatient appointment where you and the clinician will have made the decision for you to have an operation, you will begin the process of assessing your fitness for your procedure. This is the next step along your care pathway and is vital to ensuring you have the best outcome possible.

The pathway is split in to four main sections:

Information about each of these sections can be found by clicking the links above or at the bottom of the page.

Currently, this centralised pre-operative assessment service assesses patients that will be having procedures through the following specialities:

Other specialties offer a separate pre-operative assessment service to patients within their own departments.
