Upper GI
If you have recently been told you have or are suspected of having cancer you will have already met some of the people involved in your care. These health professionals work within a team which is called a specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) which is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The members of the Upper GI MDT are experts at treating and managing cancer. They are involved with your investigations, diagnosis and treatment.

Oesophago-Gastric Cancers (OG)

- Oesophagus (gullet)
- Gastric (stomach)
Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Cancers
This includes:
- Pancreas
- Bile duct
- Gallbladder
- Duodenum

Gastroenterologists Your Consultant will provide you with information about your diagnosis and the diagnostic tests you will have before being referred to other specialist teams for treatment. |

Surgery is performed at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Your Consultant will provide you with information about surgery and continue to monitor your progress during and after surgery. |
Clinical Nurse Specialists
The Nurse Specialist Team will be your keyworker from the point of your diagnosis, providing information, advice and support about your diagnosis and treatment. Your keyworker may change depending on your treatment plan. |

Your Oncology Team will provide you with information about chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments and will monitor your progress throughout your treatment. The Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will be your keyworker throughout your oncology treatment providing support and advice. |

Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA)
The OPA is a national charitable organisation providing support and advice for patients and their families/carers who undergo surgery for oesophageal cancer.
