Upper GI
If you have recently been told you have or are suspected of having cancer you will have already met some of the people involved in your care. These health professionals work within a team which is called a specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) which is based at the NNUH. The members of the Upper GI MDT are experts at treating and managing cancer. They are involved with your investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
Conditions treated:
Oesophago-Gastric Cancers (OG). This includes:
- Oesophagus (Gullet)
- Gastric (Stomach)
Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Cancers. This includes:
- Pancreas
- Bile duct
- Gallbladder
- Duodenum

Your consultant will provide you with information about your diagnosis and the diagnostic tests you will have before being referred to other specialist teams for treatment. |

Oncology Team
Your Oncology team will provide you with information about Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatments and will monitor your progress throughout your treatment. The Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will be your key-worker throughout your Oncology treatment providing support and advice. |
