Investigations
The team of Cardiology Physiologists led by Charles Graham, Principal Physiologist, undertakes a variety of investigations and procedures including the pacemaker service, working in the catheter labs, undertaking ultrasound imaging, managing exercise testing and ambulatory monitoring.
Many people come to the department for an echocardiogram (ultrasound imaging of the heart). Most of the Echo rooms have monitors available for the patients to see the moving images of the heart. This makes it easier for patients to understand their heart problems, and the Cardiology Physiologists see it as part of their role to explain the images to patients. Accompanying relatives are welcome to come in with the patient, providing the patient is happy for them to do so.
We are a University teaching hospital for the undergraduate students at the University of East Anglia. Patients may be asked to allow students to see them in clinical examination sessions.
