Cancer treatments

If cancer is suspected it will be investigated using various diagnostic tests such as biopsies, x-rays, scans, blood tests etc. Your results will then be discussed amongst cancer specialists within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting. If there is a positive cancer diagnosis, the MDT members will devise a personalised treatment plan suited to you. The type of treatment that you will be administered will entirely depend on different factors, such as:

• Age
• Health (past and present)
• Type of cancer
• Size of the tumour
• How quickly the cancer is growing
• Whether the cancer has spread
• What stage and grade the cancer is
