NNUH Facilities

On-site facilities available to patients and visitors at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital include:


WH Smith

There is a WH Smith store located next to the entrance to West Outpatients.


This is located on Level 1 of the East Atrium, is open daily 8.00am to 8.00pm weekdays and 10.00am to 6.00pm at weekends.

Stock Shop

A women’s fashion shop, located on Level 2 of the West Atrium, open 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.30am to 4.00pm on Saturdays.

Restaurants and Coffee shops

The main hospital restaurant, is in the West Atrium, Level 1, and serves hot and cold meals and drinks from 7:00am to 1.00am, seven days a week.

Coffee House is located within WH Smith and is open Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 6.30pm, on Saturday 9.00am to 4.30pm and Sunday 9.00am to 3.30pm.

There is a coffee shop in the East Outpatient reception area and a Costa coffee shop in the West Outpatient reception area, both are open between 7:00am and 6.00pm.

There is also a large coffee shop, the Pod, outside the entrance to East Outpatients open 7:00am to 8.00pm weekdays and Saturday 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Vending Machines

There are vending machines in waiting and reception areas supplying hot and cold drinks as well as snacks.

Cash Machines

The hospital has two cash dispensing machines, both provided by the Nationwide building society. The first is on Level 2 of the East Atrium, the second is in the WH Smith shop located outside West Outpatients on Level 2. The machines are part of the Link network and accept the vast majority of cash machine cards.


There is free public wi-fi across the hospital for patients and visitors. Users need to select the ‘NNUHT Public WiFi’ network and create an account and register with a username and password. Users are then able to use this network by logging in with their username and password details.

Toilets and Baby Changing

The hospital has toilets in all the public areas. A number of the toilets are single cubicles which can be used by either men or women. Toilets designed for the disabled carry the disabled sign but they can also be used by the able-bodied and are for use by both sexes. There are also baby-changing rooms in a number of locations and main reception staff can be asked for directions to the nearest one.

Children’s Play Area

There is an outdoor children’s playground next to the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital on Level 2 of the West block. It has safety flooring and is designed for children under the age of 10. Children must be supervised at all times by a parent or carer.

Payphones and Postboxes

The hospital has public payphones in all the main reception/waiting areas. These provide free phone access to a local taxi service. There are also payphones in all day rooms. Royal Mail postboxes can be found outside the West Outpatient entrance and one on Level 2 of the East Atrium.
